Bosses rate themselves great; employees disagree
Somewhere in here lies the truth. A whopping 92 percent of all managers rate themselves as an "excellent" or "good" boss. Maybe they are. But then again, maybe not. Only 67 percent of the employees who report to them agree.
The results are from a stufy of 1,845 U.S. workers conducted in September 2006 by Hudson. They survey also showed that no bosses rated their own performance as poor ut 26 percent of bosses did say they could use some help. The same group also said it has not received adequate training to handle their managerial responsibilities.
And who is available to step up when managers leave an organization? Forty-one percent of employees say they believe they could be offered their manager's job, but only half of them actually would accept it.
